Slats. This part is pretty self explanatory. The slats are the parts of the blind that run either vertically or horizontally depending on your type of window blind. Slats are also made from various materials like wood, fabric, bamboo, vinyl or aluminum. Groovers. These are used exclusively with fabric blinds to cover and protect the fabric. Usually when groovers are not used, weights are at the bottom of the fabric slat.
Lift Slide and Tilt Controls. These are the inner mechanisms that allow you to open, close, raise up or let down your blinds. Vertical blinds also have the slide control which allows you to slide them back and forth across the window. In other words, the controls allow you to regulate the natural light you want to let into any given room.
