First and foremost, probably one of the most important blind accessories is a cleat or a cord holdfast. A cleat can be a plastic or metal object with two projecting horns to which cords may be fastened by winding the cord around the horns, to keep them from slipping. A cord holdfast as the name depicts is used to hold the cords "fast" by winding the cord around a peg which is normally angled at about 45 degrees. So that when a blind, for example a venetian blind, is pulled up, the cords can be secured to the cleat or holdfast to prevent the blind from coming down.
Before you can begin installing your blinds you need to make sure that you have all the necessary equipment to hand. As well as the blind kit you are going to need a screwdriver, an electric drill, a pen or pencil as well as a laser or spirit level. The reason we suggest buying a blind kit is that these come with all the necessary hardware not just for installing the blinds but also for operating them. So what steps will you need to take to ensure that you hang your blinds correctly? In this article we look at the steps you will need to take.
It's not all bad, though. If you're going for a specific look, there are plenty of options to choose from. For example, you could choose your blinds by wood, colour or stain. This is great for those homeowners looking for blinds to complement the existing look of their, say, living room.
Tapes. These can be normally found in aluminum or window blinds. Unlike ladders, tapes run down the front part of the slats to glue them together. Bottom Rail. This is a vertical blind part that is used as an anchor to hold the binds together. This is located at the end of the window blind, and normally matches the window blind.
